Hi, my name is Chad. I’m learning to do the work of Creativity, and this blog is part of that effort. Sometimes the Momentary Muse provides substance, but more often the best work is borne out of hard work.
Years ago I wrote songs on a whim, poems in the moment, and college papers based on a particular passion. College was a fertile ground for creative output. I was surrounded by people trying to find themselves, to define who they were against the backdrop of a big, bad world.
As I age, I’m finding that creative output is harder to come by. The emotions of red-blooded young man have given way to a more predictable working-force husband and father. The daily routine of life is a low, constant hum compared to the visceral feelings of a college-aged guy. So I have to work harder to be real and raw.
I have an advantage, though, over that twenty-something dude… Experience, loss, hardship, and growth. I’m hoping that the hum-drum everyday life holds deeper secrets than the passionate hormones of a college kid. Enjoy!
